Frequently Asked Questions
What if I’m between glove sizes?
If you are between glove sizes, round down to the nearest half or whole number. The leather will stretch slightly with use. This is especially true for hairsheep leather gloves. As a general rule, the thicker the leather, the less stretch there is. Other materials, such as knitted gloves or ones with elastane, also stretch.
What if I don’t have a tape measure?
If you don’t have a tape measure, use a piece of string or ribbon to wrap around your hand. Lay the string flat on a ruler and measure the length to find your glove size.
Which is my dominant hand?
Your dominant hand is the right hand if you are right-handed and the left hand if you are left-handed. Your dominant hand is usually slightly larger than the other, so its best to ensure the gloves fit your larger hand.
How should I position my hand?
Your hand should be flat/ open. Do not bend it or clench into a fist.
What is the widest part of my hand?
The widest part of your hand is usually just below your knuckles. Remember to exclude the thumb from your measurement.
How tight should the tape measure be?
The tape measure should be snug against your skin – as the gloves will be. Don’t pull too tight or let it get too loose.
How should the gloves feel once on?
The gloves should feel snug at first but will stretch with wear. We offer three types of fit so you can choose the one that best suits you – Slim, Regular and Casual.
- Slim fit - this is our closest fit, offers a sleek and flattering silhouette and suits modern dressing
- Regular fit - this is tailored but not tight, fits most hand shapes and suits both smart and casual dressing
- Casual fit - this is our roomiest and most generously cut glove, it offers maximum comfort and works well with casual clothing
Belt Sizing Guides
Baffled by belt sizes? We’re here to help with all the expert advice you need to buy a Dents belt with confidence. Explore our waist measurement guidance, belt size chart and frequently asked questions answered to shop for belts without the bewilderment.
How To Measure Belt Size
Wrap a fabric tape measure around your waist at the height at which you will wear the belt. Note the measurement where the tape reaches one time around your waist and use the belt size chart.
Alternatively, add two inches (2”) to your trouser size to find your belt size. For instance, if you wear 34” waist trousers, choose a 36” belt. For jeans or low-rise trousers, add a further 3 or 4” to find your belt size.

This chart shows the range from the tightest to the loosest the belt can be worn. We recommend wearing the belt at the middle/third hole (all of our belts have five holes). Being the central hole, this offers the flexibility to tighten or loosen the belt as your body changes and to style your clothes differently (shirt tucked in versus loose, light trousers versus heavier fabrics). It also means there’s sufficient length to comfortably tuck your belt into the keeper(s).

Frequently Asked Questions
Is waist/trouser size the same as belt size?
No, they are very different. Your belt size is bigger as it has to accommodate your trousers and other clothes. That’s why we recommend adding two inches (2”) to your waist size to confirm your belt size.
What if I’m between sizes?
If you are between belt sizes, round up to the next size.
How should I stand when measuring my waist?
Stand in a relaxed stance, without sucking in, or pushing out, your stomach. This position should be how you normally stand.
How tight should the tape measure be?
Snug but not tight or uncomfortable.
