Gloverall: The Original Duffle Coat
The duffle coat wasn't invented by Gloverall. But they're the reason you want one. When Harold and Freda Morris got their hands on surplus military stock after the Second World War, they saw something worth saving. What started as ex-Navy coats sold through their wholesaling business became, by 1951, a brand dedicated to making the duffle properly, with toggle fastenings you can fasten with cold hands, oversized hoods that fit over caps, and a weight that keeps the weather out. Field Marshal Montgomery wore one through the war. Liam Gallagher wore one on the cover of Roll With It. Paddington Bear hasn't taken his off since 1958. The duffle coat has been adopted by soldiers, students, protestors, poets, and pretty much everyone in between and Gloverall has been making them in England the entire time. From the original Monty to the Churchill peacoat, this is outerwear built to last decades, not seasons.Read more
